BWW: House of Cards S1:E7

I hear 8 is a bit dreary, so this one must be amazing!

Mahty is vanquished, Pete is gearing up for a gubernatorial race and Francis keeps being Francis. I find myself most concerned aboot the icy Claire

Side note: however did Frank get the name Francis if he was born a poor kiddo in BFE?

We'll start once everyone checks in! Robot Roll Call!

Oh No! Bobbi Kristina Found Unresponsive! Now Breathing

And in a bathtub! DUDE! All the best wishes for Bobbi Kristina, I bloody well hope that brother/ HUSBAND isn't skulking around. She's looking hella skinny lately.

I hate that we're all on a deathwatch for this poor kid; her history of drug abuse and family propensity for addiction makes it seem she has been given zero chance. It's like watching Amy Winehouse, without the incredible talent. I just wish she had ONE decent person around her.

Hang in there, lady, apparently she's been revived and is breathing now! Full article link

Here TMZ has her breathing thank thor

House of Cards S1:E7 Today at 1:30 & Upcoming Award Shows

We're watching more Frank at 1:30, I'm interested in seeing if Claire starts showing more than the ice cold side, but I'm willing to be surprised.

Shown here having WASP relations

In public no less!

Be there or be round like a peachoid! I will be both!

On another note, do you see that every single Sunday in February is booked? ?

Feb. 8: The Walking Dead returns!  AND The Grammys! NO idea how that's gonna work oot

Feb. 15: SNL special, Red Carpet @5. PLUS Walking Dead

Feb. 22: The Oscars! Also WD, see note below

Here's an idea for The Walking Dead, now hear me out! How aboot we watch them the next day? That way, we could watch with Becks, who is a HUGE WD fan! Whaddaya think?? We could probably do it Monday nap times and it would be like old times! Lemme know what y'all think

50 Shades: The Jellyfish WOULD Have Been Amazing!

Interesting article in The Guardian; an interview with Sam Taylor-Johnson, who directed 50 Shades of Grey.

Full article link

Personally, I think they shoulda left the jellyfish in, it's much kinder than what I was picturing going on in Anastasia's melon. Jamie Dornan for Veronica!

I know it's very backwards of me, but I always think of Aaron Taylor-Johnson whenever I see Sam Taylor-Johnson's name. Which makes me think of someone my age bouncing on a teenager and it immediately gives me the squicks. I know it shouldn't matter and shouldn't even by part of the conversation, but there it is. If it was a dewd 42 year old hooking up with a 19 year old, you better BELIEVE we'd be talking about it. So on we go.

Gratuitous Aaron Taylor-Johnson shot for J and her Kevin!

Do we have a head count yet on who's actually going to watch it in the theatre?

Game of Thrones Season 5 Trailer

This seems to be the big show today and honestly, I'm posting so Veronica can 'splain to me what's going on

I've just finished Season 1 and I am ecstatic that it ended on such an up note, for a very big change. I mean

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SPOILER ALERT!!!! JUST IN CASE, LIKE ME, YOU THINK ITS 2011 AND YOU'RE STILL IN SEASON 1

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!

___________________________________________________________

Baby dragons! Squee!!!!

So I see Arya at the end, still pretending to be a dude, Sansa and LittleFinger alive and giving a pep talk, Tyrion and Varis working together (??), the Khaleesi still aboot and in clothes for a change, Veronica, what do you see?

Side note: I now fully understand the Peter Dinklage (! Thanks, Veronica !) love, but am less convinced of Jason Momoa's awesomeness. Mostly he grunted and flexed his beautiful bewbies. I'm willing to be convinced,  however

Yay!! Our Amy is Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year!! & SNL News

Apparently it's Parks & Rec year at Hahvad, they've announced Chris Pratt as Hasty Pudding Man of The Year and Our Amy Poehler as Woman of the Year! Harvard Link here. Hahvad is like Yale, right? That doesn't usually work out for us here in the blogsphere, but good job anyway,  H!

In honour of the occasion, I'm going with Hot Amy with t*ts out for Christmas

And the Pratt. I chose THIS pic because he looks like a Mountie

And  I wish I could include my favourite SNL skit with OA, but no can find. BOO The Internet! ALSO!! Eddie Murphy is coming back to SNL!! EDDIE MURPHY!  It's been 30 years, y'all!! Buhwheat 4EVA!

There's a big SNL special coming up February 15th, it even has a red carpet, we have to watch!

BWW: Girls S1:E10 The Finale!

I hear there is scream-worthy stuff gonna happen!

We left Marnie being a scrunt to Hannah, who just doesn't have time to be a good friend right now, okay??

And Adam is even weirder than we thought.  Not THAT surprising, I mean, Hannah is weird, like and like? Narcissa meet Narcisso? Is that how it works?

I like the baby hippo. She soothes me

Bookie Wook's 1000th Post!!!

Can you believe it??

We ARE a bunch of Chatty Mofos, we're at our 1000th post with well over 150 THOUSAND comments! 150K!! Okay, maybe half of that was Steamy, James and I. Maaaybe

It all started back when Meaux, Hammer and I used to derail threads back on the 'Dan with our book luvin and general awesomeness, thanks to a former friend gently suggesting a separate blog, here we are. Not ONE thanks did we get from people for not OTing all over the place. You're welcome!

It may not look like 1000 posts, about half are archived, due to being a social post or just for visiting (t'ain't nuthin wrong with that), but lessee what we do have: buncha Bookie Wook Watches, a few book club meets sprinkled throughout, a buttload of recipes and skin care suggestions, some music and 2 pron posts. Two. That's it!

We've changed over the past few months, going from book club meets to socials to dailies to gossip posts and bookie wook watches. We've lost quite a few people along the way, picked up some new pals and now: what do we do for the next 1000? Any ideas?

I lub yous guys!

BWW: Girls S1:E9 Continues

Otherwise known as: are you SURE we're not gonna watch the finale tonight? ?

On we go!

BWW: Girls S1: Episodes 8 & 9

So: now we've seen Adam with a shirt on and found out he may NOT be the problem in the Hannah sitch; we can objectify now? Not really my type (dangerously underweight, no FAT to GATHER,  Adam), but he looks good in clothes! Kinda? Right?

ANYWAY, on we go! Next post is the 1000th!!

Robin Hood Friday Night, Girls tonight at 7:30!

I've no idea why, but I am unable to write a title without a ! or else even several! ! ANYWAY

Squeaking a couple of Girls episodes tonight at 7:30, Season 1 epis 8 & 9. After a main character got beheaded on GoT and a really depressing backstory for Peter Dinklage, I need to relax with some gross sex scenes

Then, after the Girls post, we hit 1000 posts!! That's a lot of hellos, goodbyes and cat litter!

We're watching Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves (although trust me, I'd rather Men in Tights) and we'd love y'all to join us! I've never seen (I HATE COSTNER) but I hear it's great! I am choosing to put my trust in Reno, who would never steer us wrong.

HERK. I mean honestly

I'm just here for you, buddy

See you at 6 on Friday!

BWW HoC S1:E6 Part 2

Also, Union Mahty has blocked Claire's event, making Frank flap like a bird it heat. Wait. Do birds go in heat? Or just grow bright feathers and make loud noises? Or is that a Real Housewife I'm thinking. .ANYWAY

On we go! We're at or around the 26:26 mark on Episode 5, once everyone is here, we'll begin!

House of Cards: Episodes 5 & 6 Tonight at 7:30!

Join us for Daddy issues dressed up as career advancement,  won't you? Or  I guess what Lily Tomlin says applies: two things can be true.

SAG Awards Part 2!

BWW: The 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards

And we're off! !

BWW SAG Awards Red Carpet Cont

Anyone see this dude? Mebbe hanging out by JLaw? Anyone

If JAniston was REALLY being brave, she'd come in character.  Sell it, JA!

BWW The SAG Awards: The Red Carpet

This is it!! We're finally here!

So mostly the same people / movies nominated tonight (TWD one lousy nomination grumble grumble getoffmylawn!!) so I am really looking forward to the non-nominees! Like

Woo hoo!! Let's go red carpet, whatcha got??

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 7 Tease-Trailer!

I don't know 'bout y'all, but Becky (Dusty Knees) and I (Bobbie Ferapples) LURVE us some Drag Race and we can't WAIT for Season 7 to start. It's supposed to be this month, but I can't find any information on exactly when that's gonna be. I hope MamaRu isn't PeopleMagazineAwardsing this show...

Anyway! Here's the trailer!  So.excited!

We all need drag names!  Post below if you've got one!

SAGgy Sig Snackie!

Dudes, I don't know about you, but we've got 4 hours ahead of us tonight and if we start drinking fancy cocktails now, we're gonna be girl drink drunk and holding each other's hair before we even get to marvel at Lenny Kravitz's effortless cool. By that I mean his Questionable Goods, obvs.

ANYWAY, what about a snack instead?? These are Alton Brown's wings, but all the proportions are different,  so I will call them:

SAGgy Hot Wangs!
2 lbs chicken wings
1/ 4 Louisiana hot sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced fine
2 Tbsp butter

Steam the wangs for 20 minutes, making sure all are steamed (rotate as necessary), then lay out on parchment paper covered cookie sheets. Put in fridge for half an hour to an hour. If you don't have a fridge that can accommodate 2 large cookie sheets, put them in the garage. Or on a balcony, if you don't have a garage. Cool them suckers! Preheat the oven to 425° Fahrenheit whilst you are waiting (and sipping on a bevvy). Bake for 30 minutes, flip, rotate cookie sheets on racks, and bake for 20 more. Somewhere in there start cooking the garlic in the butter. For one minute!! Your house will smell AHMAZAZING. Then add the Louisiana hot sauce, stir until it looks relatively cohesive. Take the wangs out of the oven and toss in the sauce that you have thoughtfully poured into a large bowl for just that purpose. Tadah!

Artful arrangement optional

BWW Girls S1:E7 Cont

Onwards! To the Crackcident!

BWW: Girls Season 1, Episodes 6 & 7

No time for a particular cocktail, drink whatcha got! Like gin. Looots of gin

You know what goes well with gin? Guacamole! So tonight instead of a drink, we'll have a signature dish: Going Home Guac.

Look! Adam wears a shirt eventually!

Also, STILL NOT RAY

Bookie Wook Watching Girls Tonight at 7:30!

We're watching episodes 6 & 7 from Season 1, join us! All welcome

Formerly hot in Point Break then weirdly costumed 53-year-old babysitting dad will be there!

BWW House of Cards S1:E3 Chapter 3 Part 2

Continued...

BWW: House of Cards S1:E3 Chapter 3

I hear the subtitle is "Frank And The Giant Peach" and I so hope that makes sense. "James and The Giant Peach" is written by one of my favourite authors, Roald Dahl. Apropos of nothing

Anyway! On we march! More Frank!

This might be a great time for a Frank and The Giant Peach Bellini is alls I'm saying...

Once everyone checks in, we'll begin! ROBOT ROLL CALL!

House of Cards Episode 3: TODAY AT 3:30

Everyone welcome! Come watch episode 3 of House of Cards with us! It's fun and repugnant in the very best way and Spacey is all Savannah Smoothness

BWW is at 3:30 blog (Mountain) time, see you there!

I've resurrected the BWW Schedule Tab, check it oot

SAGgies! The Countdown is On!

I don't know about yous guys, but I am disproportionately excited about these awards! Usually I don't have a clue about the nominees or the movies / shows, but after all our shared award watching this month, I'm starting to feel like an old hand here! With still.no.actual.knowledge, it must be noted.

We've watched House of Cards now, and can TOTALLY see how the Spacemobile got that Critic's Choice Award, and we have another watch this afternoon.

Anyway, I am thawing chicken wings as we speak, what kind of prep are y doing? WE NEED A SIGNATURE COCKTAIL!! Any ideas? J? Anyone? Post below if you think of something!

Friday, 23 January 2015

BWW House of Cards S1:E2 Chapter 2

I'm going to assume the naming convention changes at some point or we'll be at an unwieldy Chapter 29 by next weekend.

We're already ready to watch that Slick Spacey work his southern accent into the smarmy far reaching corridors of DC.

Who's ready! We'll start once we everyone has checked in!

BWW: Girls S1:E5 Hard Being Easy

This is a tricky one and where I left off. It is so hard not to crazy bingewatch this all at once!

Anyway, Hard Being Easy: apparently this happens

BWW: HoC S1:E1 Part 2

Continues...

BWW: House of Cards S1:E1 Chapter 1

And we begin! Starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, it's also nominated for a SAGgie this Sunday, so technically, this could.be considered doing our due diligence!  Woo hoo!

I don't know what to expect, I know it's a political drama without the awesomesauce that is Kerry Washington, and hear at one point Kevin Spacey will kiss a dude. So there's that. Boo!! And Yay!!

I haven't suggested a signature cocktail, because only Violet is looking at an after 5 pm showtime, but if anyone wants my smoothie recipe, it's all yours! I assume Violet will be knee deep in brandy.

Once everyone checks in, we'll begin!

Definition Alert: NOT Cleavage

So there were approximately eleventy thousand "news" stories (pic from Hollywoodlife.com) about JLo getting her t*ts out for Andy Cohen last night and I just have one thing to say:

This is not cleavage! NOT.CLEAVAGE! The boobs must be touching to be cleavage. It's like saying this is a great example of Ninja warrior style. NOT THAT EITHER. But every single caption was about her clavicage and it's like everyone forgot what it means. FTR, THIS is cleavage.

Okay, two things. She looked gorgeous, but wash yer hair already! Her skin is insane.

The Walking Dead Trailer!

Here it is, the trailer for the second half of the season, starting February 8, which may or may not be one of my children's bdays!  So.excited! But still.not happy that they killed off Beth. I mean, if anyone was ever inoffensive and sweet....ANYWAY, here it is! Rick's gotten so furry,  yo!

The Walking Dead Returns!

Don't forget; House of Cards at 1:30 pm blog time today; Violet, you in?? Let's use that Netflix!

Thursday, 22 January 2015

BWW: Girls S1:E4 Hannah's Diary

This seems awwwwkward this one!

I made up two cocktails for this watch,  but I think safety should rule and I will stick to water. The crantinis were great!

BWW Girls S1:E2 Bagina Panic

Continues!

And we're all very interested in what Meaux's doing. ..

BWW: Girls S1:E1 & 2

And we're off! Thanks for partying like it's 2010 with me!

Our signature cocktail for the evening is:

Cut-Off Crantini

3 oz vodka
1/2 oz triple sec
1 oz cranberry juice

And the episodes are the pilot, cleverly called Pilot, and Bagina Panic. Yay!! Hey, did you know Judd Apatow was involved with producing? ?

Also, in case you missed last post: Which Girls character are you?

BWW House of Cards Starting Friday

As our nap time show, we will be starting to watch House of Cards tomorrow afternoon at 1:30-ish blog (mountain) time. It's got Robin Wright (is it still Wright-Penn? Anyone?), Kevin Spacey and I think Dr. SeaMonkey from The Strain. I hear KS makes out with a dude, woo hoo!

It's been a couple of weeks since we finished The Walking Dead backlog and I think we were feeling a bit at loose ends; I know I was. My house is spotless and I've baked bread twice this week alone. Momma needs something to watch! So we'll give HoC a shot, try a couple of episodes, see how she rolls. Plus it's nominated for a SAGgy, so it's like homework!

Join us tomorrow, it's on Netflix and everyone is welcome!

Girls: The Bookie Wook Watches Season 1

Okay! Continuing my crusade to watch everything relevant from 2010,  who's down for watching the first season of Girls? The lovely Meaux (no relation to dirty bird Meauxchelle of the Girlvert recommend) will be watching as well

I really like it so far and I use one of the phrases on the regular, although it's not SFB, so I won't repeat. Yet.

Can't wait to discuss! I know it's 4 years ago, lots of cool things happened back then! Scrunchies, neon lipstick, Chip & Pepper beach wear, hot sticks...it's all GOLD! Also Robyn "Dancing On My Own", which I adore.

First episode will be Thursday (aka tomorrow) at 6 pm blog (Mountain) time, all welcome!

SAG Awards: TV Nominees

All right all right, I found a less intense list so here are the TV nominations for the SAGgies.

I already elaborated yesterday on why the single,  lame nomination for The Walking Dead is BOOSHITE so I won't go over it again, but I've been trying to watch each of the shows so I have some frame of reference.

So far I've seen Game of Thrones, just the pilot, so lots of nudity and tonnes of yuck. And I'm mad at myself for being the most grossed out by the queen, she's not the one that pushed that kiddo out the window because he saw her boning her brother. I'm sorry Jezebel! This is how the patriarchy is enacted woman to woman, I know, I know! Still gross

At least I have an idea of who people are talking aboot, although somehow I missed the "fantasy" part; I thought it was just fuedal politics and I be wrong. Dragons too! Yaaay. And Kit Harrison is appropriately broody and pouts, I can see why the young wimmens are digging.

I think I'll swing by Sons of Anarchy next, all I've seen is Jax jumping nekkid on a bed and while I am not complaining, I'm not sure the whole plot can be summed up as "dat.azz.doe". Maybe

Any favourites in here for anyone? I'm kind of amazed anyone read this far, so high five!

The Beibs is Gonna Be Roasted

I'm not sure what's up and what's down anymore, Justin Beiber is going to be roasted on Comedy Central.  He's 20. And there is enough material to roast him. But he seems to be...aware? Of how most people / are disgusted by him see him...and participates in mocking himself...so I'M CONFUSED.

He even tweeted aboot it: "For years I have wanted Comedy Central to roast me. They said only if I provided them w/ more material so for a year now I have worked hard"

Exhibit A

It's a good thing I'm not a writer or his grammar would be KILLING me. Plus, maybe sounding like unaware you are of basic structure of sentences is endearing more? ANYway.

Is he the most secure 20 year old to walk the planet? Or is that maybe the only way he's making money these days? He knows people are only tuning in to make sure he's thoroughly crispy, right?

It's like when La Lohan was on SNL, I watched because I was hoping she was okay and maybe, maaayyyyybe breaking away from all the drugs and criminal behavior and realizing all that damn talent teased at on Mean Girls (spoiler alert: she did not) and that was just not why most everybody was there. Ooonly got laughs at her expense. The Beibs knows that, right?

SAGgies Nominations: For Sunday

The Screen Actors Guild Awards are this Sunday, I hope everyone is rested up and all the actors have made it back for FREE FOOD AND RECOGNITION (J.K. Simmons, totally looking at you)

The complete list of nominees can be found here: http://www.sagawards.org/awards/nominees-and-recipients/21st-annual-screen-actors-guild-awards

Main ones worth looking out for are:

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role STEVE CARELL / John du Pont – “FOXCATCHER”
BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH / Alan Turing – “THE IMITATION GAME”
JAKE GYLLENHAAL / Louis Bloom – “NIGHTCRAWLER”
MICHAEL KEATON / Riggan – “BIRDMAN”
EDDIE REDMAYNE / Stephen Hawking – “THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING”

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
JENNIFER ANISTON / Claire Bennett – “CAKE”
FELICITY JONES / Jane Hawking – “THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING”
JULIANNE MOORE / Alice Howland-Jones – “STILL ALICE”
ROSAMUND PIKE / Amy Dunne – “GONE GIRL”
REESE WITHERSPOON / Cheryl Strayed – “WILD”

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role
ROBERT DUVALL / Joseph Palmer – “THE JUDGE”
ETHAN HAWKE / Mason, Sr. – “BOYHOOD”
EDWARD NORTON / Mike – “BIRDMAN”
MARK RUFFALO / Dave Schultz – “FOXCATCHER”
J.K. SIMMONS / Fletcher – “WHIPLASH”

IKNORITE?? Show up this time, yerk! We all saw you at the Golden Globes FOUR days before the CCAs

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role
PATRICIA ARQUETTE / Olivia – “BOYHOOD”
KEIRA KNIGHTLEY / Joan Clarke – “THE IMITATION GAME”
EMMA STONE / Sam – “BIRDMAN”
MERYL STREEP / The Witch – “INTO THE WOODS”
NAOMI WATTS / Daka – “ST. VINCENT”

And all the same movies above are the ones nominated, which means I will be crossing my fingers for a Best Batman win, if only to hear "Well, I'll take it, but..." and actually hoping for a JAniston win. At a legit awards ceremony. I know, she got the coveted People Magazine Award, but I'm starting to think she did more than just be BraveUgly and actually did some acting; she's up for every award out there. And you KNOW Julianne Moore is taking the Oscar.

In the TV category, it's all the same, Big Bang Theory, Boardwalk Empire, Downtown Abbey, my girls from OITNB and House of Cards. Fargo, Veep, you know, all the same, we've heard about them all awards season. Our Amy Poehler (she's ours now, we read her book and we love her EVEN MORE and now own her) got a nod, yay!

I'm pissed, though. ONE nomination for The Walking Dead. ONE. And that's for Stunt Ensemble. What is that even mean? Is that an award for the people that AREN'T the amazing (ding!) actors on the show, but good job for shambling like a rock star and pretending to be Rick sliding across a car hood? WTF?? Did Rick even slide across a car hood? Anyone know? Anyway, that's booshite. I know some people don't think the writing is as good as it was (Becks), but those actors are amazing (ding!) and I can't believe not one decent nomination.

Sunday comes soon! I'm making the Best Buffalo Wings ever again and doing a pj/shower/pj dayplan, what are you guys doing to prepare?

BWW: The Bachelor

Part three!

BWW: The Bachelor

Part two!
