BRR Kingdom Recap S1:E4 Flowers

When last we saw our Kingdomites, tragic hookah Christina was being hustled out the door by Terry as her son Jay plotted and steamed. We open with Jay shopping at a hardware store for some seriously worrisome looking shite which turns out to be just home security improvements. To lock his Mom in. No way this can go wrong!

BWW Drag Race S4:E9 Frock The Vote

So we lost Willam to a technicality (unsanctioned boning) last week; Sharon Needles essentially owes her crown to Willam's huzzband's magic peen, because guuuuuurl was goin home with PhiPhi's bootmarks on her behind, yo. Let's see how they Frock the vote! Top 5, huntys!

BRR Below Deck Recap S3:E2 Off the Radar

We left matching morons RockyRaquel and Emile up on the mast; about to be thoroughly chastised by Skinny Kenny Rogers:

We left the last episode with Ryan, the prodigal white whale, returning to the octagon with a whole lot of hopes pinned on his muscular, sweaty chest.

BWW Drag Race S4:E8 Frenemies

I hear this is the one! The one with Willam (I've been spelling that wrong for 7 episodes.  Apparently) and maybe some comeuppance.  I've been checking his Tweet game online, not bad, mostly hire me stuff (are all drag queens represented by david@whatchamacallit ?) but also some NSFW pics from the theatre. He's a patron of the arts! And beauteous

Lessee what shakes loose!

Draaaaaagggggg Thursday! RuPaul's Drag Race Tonight!

Webedraggin tonight; in the meantime lessee what's shaking in the drag world...

Well. In case you were wondering about the tuck. "Bulge Queen" made me laugh, I thought that was me! I've had it wrong this whole time.

Tell me!!

Tell me you wouldn't go to this on the 30th and we can no longer be friends! In your mind, anyway. I'm pretty sure I am nowhere near fabulous enough to attend in PERSON.

BWW The Strain S2:E2 By Any Means

We continue our vombie saga with hopefully 1000% less neck baginas; with Eph-Ex resurrected and looking for her newly re-cast son, Zack

Um. YICK

More TV Shows Cancelled

And I don't know any of them. The full list on Variety, but here's highlights and it's mostly Network:

- Graceland
- Hannibal
- Extant
- Beauty and The Beast (...as a procedural...?)
- 19 Kids and Counting (SHOCKER)
- Lilyhammer
- Stalker (actually saw half an episode, not horrible, but at least Maggie Q and Dylan McWhathispants got an engagement out it)

UPDATED TO ADD: America's Next Top Model is done too! Dangit. I haven't watched in years but I lurved it back in the day.

I've heard of Graceland, but I didn't know SoapOperaDreamy Daniel Sunjata was on there or I might have at least checked it out, for the peepers alone

Man Booker Prize Wednesday

The prestigious Man Booker prize for fiction has been awarded to Marlon James, who wrote the decidedly non-brief A Brief History of Seven Killings.

American Music Awards Nominations OOT

In preparation for trying not to miss another dang awards show, I put the AMAs on the roster for Nov. 22 @ 6; deets!

JLo is hosting; here are the nominees! Which are not exactly encouraging. I mean, the usual suspects are up for the most: TSwifty and Ed Sheeran but also The Weeknd, who I'm guessing is the new Sam Smith that we will all hate by the end of the night?

I have to post Fetty Wap because I STILL haven't heard any of his stuff, but he's being talked about a LOT.

No idea if SFW, use your judgement

LabRat Tuesday, For Your Inner Sciencey Bits

Speaking of bits! Sometimes outtie/innie doesn't matter so much, they say. Slow clap for "and then they eat a banana" and also BroJob, which sounds more like a career wearing your hat backwards than, well, read the article. I have to strongly disagree with absolutely everything they say about straight men having sex with each other, becuz: bored, except for the part about sexuality being fluid.

BWW The Strain S2:E1 BK, N.Y.

It's been quite some since we finished season one of The Strain, let's see if the bagina necks and mouth snakes (and don't forget the Nazi backstory!) are as captivating as they were last year!

When I was little one of my favorite things was to have my Grandma read to me from her poem books.  I didn't understand a bit of it, but I loved the flow I suppose.

Moar Dance Parties!

More Thursday Dance Partying!

I know I've posted it before, don't curr, es awesome! Also, this reminds me off the movie we watched last night: Chico and Rita

Post your current fave jam in the comments!

So.Much.News

I decided to stop being such a Twitsnob and just follow everyone I could think of - that I could find, anyway. So many of my favourite authors aren't even on there: Melissa Bank, where you at?? The Wonder Spot? I mean, I'll give you Agatha Christie...anyway!

DAAM: Southpaw...no possums here, just comfort food SUPREME with Jamie Oliver's Chicken in Milk!

Hi Bookies! Thanks for letting me do the DAAM post, I'm excited! Much as Charlie would have LOVED a Vegemite recipe, I am afraid to say the only thing I use it for is toast and the occasional bagel (although my MIL uses it liberally in her gravy....EUCH!). So, knowing that Southpaw is one full on, violent mofo of a movie I decided to give you all comfort food on a level not known before: Jamie Oliver's Chicken in Milk!

Wednesday, 7 October 2015

LAFF: Chico and Rita Part Dos!

Continues!

Latin American Film: Chico and Rita

We continue our viewing of selected works of Latin American Film, tonight we are rolling 2010's Chico and Rita

Backstory by Reno:

The director wanted to make a Cuban film about American jazz and had worked with Cuban pianist Bebo Valdes.  He wanted to use his music in the film and use the film to honor Bebo.  Bebo was 90 at the time and in ill health.  It would be his last public performance.  The director made this film an animated film so the actors wouldn't interfere with the music.  He used the style of a Bolero for dramatic effect.

Authors Plus Twitter: To Follow Or Not To Follow

So I've been putzing around Twitter for the last couple of weeks (@gingesbecray) and I have to say: there are approximately eleventy thousand people on there, only 24 of which I have found to follow. That's so crazy! But you know gingesbe... ANYway, need moar suggestions!! The real problem I had was that I followed all the authors I liked right off the bat, and now I don't like a bunch of them any more. Have you had that? Where familiarity breeds unfollowing?

BWW Empire S1:E3 The Devil Quotes Scripture

Damnit Terrence, y come u gotta look SO GOOD??

On with our delicious trash!

Sciency Tuesday! Commander Chris Hadfield

It occurs to me; have I never mentioned Chris Hadfield before? I don't even know how that is possible! He's THE Canadian Space Guy, and hilarious to boot.
